This session will offer a quick review of the basics for discharging taxes in bankruptcy and then focus on the more complex nuances of dealing with tax problems in bankruptcy, methods to identify the various types of taxes owed, penalties, and interest and how to address those issues in chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcy cases. Further, the panel will discuss blended legal approaches for dealing with tax debt when bankruptcy will not relive the taxpayer of all tax debt, and how to address tax debt that survives the bankruptcy.
